get away!

Last Sunday afternoon Ryan and I boarded a plane to Las Vegas. Alone.

Ry had to go down for a Solar Conference and I decided to tag along for a few days get-away. Although we both dislike Las Vegas, we still had lots of fun. We stayed in Mandalay Bay (the location of the conference) and it was by far our best strip-hotel experience.

Sunday night we walked down to Cheesecake Factory and ate dinner. Delicious, as always.

Monday Ryan had classes and stuff to do all day so I worked out, relaxed, and read. That night the conference had a buffet dinner as well as a casino night with different gambling tutorials and complimentary chips. We started the night with $2000 and ended up with over $4000! We were tempted to try our luck at the real tables upstairs, but didn't. It was a pretty fun night - - everybody else was completely hammered (there was an open bar). When one guy found out Ryan was Mormon he asked if he left his other wives at home. Then he died laughing at his hilarious joke.

Tuesday I walked the strip, did a little shopping, and met Ryan for a matinee movie in a deserted theater to see Sherlock Holmes. We both really liked it!

Then back on a plane and home to our munchkins, who loved sleeping over at my mom and dad's house. It was a wonderful, much needed vacation.

And then I jumped back into real life when I realized I had totally forgotten it was my turn for joyschool on Wednesday. Surprisingly the day went pretty smoothly and better then days when I had prepared obsessively.

A few funny things:

-Last Saturday Mady and Austin went to the pet store with Dallin and Shellee to pick out a new goldfish. When they got home I asked them what they named it. Aus wanted to name it Cosmo and Mady wanted to name it Nickel.

-I'm trying to get Ausy to go on the potty. As he's sitting there he says "Mom, I don't think boys go pee in the potty. Just girls."

-At joyschool I asked "Does anyone know what the five senses are?"
Mady: "I do! Five senses are like if you want to buy something then you can use your five cents-es."

-After pouring Mia a bowl of cereal for breakfast she looked at me and said thank you!

-If there is any kind of small box or bucket Mia will pull it over and try to sit on it.
